Can I used it for cake decoration?

Answer:

I have not tried that as I only use it for Plastic Model Kits. If you can thin the consistency of your cake decor coloring similar to what we use then that will be fine. Check youtube for sample thinning

Question:

Will the lids hold up to cleaning with acetone?

Answer:

The lids don't break down with acetone as much as the siphon tube in them. The plastic body on the brush itself breaks down pretty quick with acetone.
